Brought my dog in after being hit by a car then she had a seizure in the clinic and before they would do ANYTHING they shoved a piece of paper in my face and made me pay 1000$ up front before they would take care of my beautiful animal these people should be in jail. I'm not an idiot I understand it's gonna cost money but your gonna let a dog having a seizure flop around on the floor untill I swipe my credit card. They take advantage of people when they're at their weakest. BE AWARE DONT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY THEY DON'T CARE.ALL OF YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR WORKING THEIR. YOUR A DISGRACE TO ANIMAL RIGHTS.I HOPE ONE DAY ALL OF YOU WHO WORK THEIR HAVE SOMETHING OR SOMEONE YOU LOVE IN A MEDICAL EMERGENCY AND NO ONE HELPS YOU UNTILL YOU PAY AND IF YOU FORGOT YOUR WALLET TO BAD. THEN YOU'LL KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE YOU ABUSERS. NEVER GO HERE RID: 67013
Click to report rating    6/26/18   1     4     1     1   I was constantly bullied by the staff, so much so the manager called me to apologise multiple times and stated her staff needs empathy training. Messed up on paw print and multiple other things. I can't even go into details without my heart breaking over and over. All I will say is AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET. THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO SCREW YOU OVER. RID: 66378
Click to report rating    2/6/18   2     2     3     2   Brought my dog here for breathing problems and the vet (Guillermo Trimino) would not get off the idea that he was in pain due to arthritis. I know my dog, and this wasn't the case - at one point the vet asked me if I wanted to do his job for him - because I was asking so many questions about other possible diagnoses. We left with pain meds and our dog was 100% seemingly better the next day, without taking the meds. Fast forward 2 months - same symptoms - we took to another vet emerg (Guardian) and had a different vet, and found out that the breathing problems were from far along progressed lung cancer and we had to put him down. I know vets are human, and we all make mistakes - but the care and way the 2nd vet listened to us tell her what we know about our dog, helped get the correct diagnosis. All we ask is that you listen to the owners full story about their dog. Sorry but we will never go back to Vet Emerg on 97th with any future pets. RID: 65536
Click to report rating    8/25/17   1     3     2     1   We had to let my best friend of 13 years go around 2 weeks ago. I couldn't bring myself to go in to pick up his ashes so my boyfriend went in for me. They would not release his ashes to anyone but the owner, which is fair, I understand that, but the front desk lady was completly rude and passive aggressive. So I had to go in, still sobbing and sort everything out. I go in and am greeted with the same cold attitude, no compassion at all. Worst time of my life, and this lady did not show the slightest bit of compassion. RID: 64512
Click to report rating    5/13/17   5     5     4     4   This placed quickly took my cat and rushed her to the back to begin their assessment the second I opened the doors to the building. The staffed kept me informed the entire time, and provided options in regards to treatment. I am forever in debt and thankful for this vet. Expensive, but that's a risk you take with pets. RID: 63620
Click to report rating    4/27/17   1     5     1     1   With complete understanding that an emergency facility is very important and will cost more to use and run......Try someplace else.We have three emergency vet clinics in the city. This place not only overcharges and I mean to the extreme. They are all about the money. My dog was a transfer as my vet has no overnight service on the weekend. My clinic quoted the weekend would cost between 400 -600 hundred at the emergvet.for the weekend. We rushed him over,Expecting them to carry on with the care as we took the paperwork. They rushed him and paperwork off as we waited over 4 hours till a vet could make time to explain the rediculous charges that they had come up with.An estimate close to $4000.00 for the weekend. Our vet had done the tests and ultrasounds ,all they had to do was hook up existing IV and follow through with basics. We took our dog home after much b.s. And them demanding partial payment.Meanwhile our dog had been thrown in a cage and they had done nothing. Can't reccomend RID: 63468
Click to report rating    4/10/17   1     1     1     1   Let our dog that needed a blood transfusion sit there all night when it wasn't even busy, sent my dad home to do the transfusion saying it was all good and then called him when he was home saying they didn't even have a dog with the right blood type! Couldn't have figured that out in all that time before? When he came back in to get him, he was horrified to see he had been laying on cold, hard concrete the whole time. :( Took him to Guardian and he was taken care of right away and was given a BED. Tried to push unnecessary tests as well. Money hungry and incompetent. RID: 63296
Click to report rating    7/7/16   3     3     3     1   If you have money to burn and you want to lose your pet, then VetEmerg is the place to take go. I took my beautiful puppy to this Emergency. Every test under the sun was done, which all came back normal. $3,000.00 dollars later, I got a call that they were doing CPR to my puppy. When I got there she was dead. I was playing with my puppy not more than an hour earlier. If we wanted to pay out more money for an autopsy, I could find out what killed her. I've asked for the paperwork to backup the charges. I haven't heard back from anyone. The vets are nothing more than "Bill Collectors". I'm absolutely devastated. RID: 61046
Click to report rating    6/28/15   5     5     5     4   I had to take my cat there when she was not well. She was attended to in minutes. After an ultrasound and cytology my cat needed spleen surgery. The doctors, techs and surgeon treated her right away. After her surgery no matter how many times i called to see how she was or when i asked to go see her, they insisted that my calls were no bother and they are there 24/7 and have no issues giving me an update. In looking at the previous reviews people should understand that this is an emergency clinic, hense they respond to emergency situations. Yes they may want to run tests and recommend procedures. They do not know your pet's history so their main goal is to diagnose and treat based on what the tests indicate. As for the money aspect, they asked me beforehand before any procedure they suggested. I can say first hand that my vet wouldnt have been able to give her the prompt medical care and just knowing someone is there 24 hrs made me feel much better. U guys are great! RID: 57569
Click to report rating    5/10/15   5     5     5     5   Will never be able to sufficiently thank them. Excellent caring staff! I had great experience when my dog needed a vet after hours. Thank you! RID: 56955
Click to report rating    3/26/15   1     2     1     1   If you love your pet please do not bring them here!!! Their main objective is to test for anything and everything whether or not it is necessary. The more they test, the more they charge and charging the pet owner is their only concern. For medical professionals, the lack of compassion for my pet and my family was very evident. When I picked up my dog after thousands of dollars and no results, she was left covered in her own feces and blood soaked paw from the IV. This should never happen in a medical facility. Furthermore, blood tests and Xrays were done without our consent costing us an additional 400.00 which we now have to contest. RID: 56427
Click to report rating    3/21/15   1     1     1     1   Brought our dog here because he got into a fight with my other dog. Had a small opening on his chest. They took him in for surgery and stitched him up. After 10 days we came back to have his stitches removed, they said he was all healed. By the time we had returned home his wound had reopened like it had never been stitched. We brought him back and was told he had to go thru it all again! The vet said it was due to him licking it. We had a shirt on him do that wasn't possible. Seemed like they just want your money and could care less about the animals! Will never bring any animal here again EVER!!0 RID: 56354

Click to report rating    8/19/14   3     5     1     1   Took my dog there and was informed he would need a small surgery to remove a small object in his stomach. Long story short and six thousand dollars later my dog died. They ripped my dog apart . He never had a chance with the mess they made. The front end staff are wonderful and Aaron(vet) and Dr Gunderson were very nice and compassionate but as for the rest I feel like they were just out to make a buck and could care less about my dog. Would never take another animal there! RID: 53152
Click to report rating    8/8/14   5     5     5     5   The staff were all GREAT! The care was thorough and the Vet very compassionate. Can't thank them enough. RID: 52941
Click to report rating    7/29/14   5     5     5     5   Was unsure about this clinic from the beginning as I didn't know very much about Veterinarians (my dog has never been to one regularly) and was very pleased with the entire experience. They all treated my dog like gold and listened to my every concern. Nothing was done without my approval and they respected whatever I said yes or no to. I am forever grateful to VetEmerg for giving my old guy more time with us! RID: 52803
Click to report rating    7/16/14   5     5     5     5   My dog had aspiration pneumonia which turned into an immune disorder while fighting the pneumonia. They told me her chances were slim from the beginning and it was really touch and go for a while but with the care of each and every staff member at this clinic she pulled through. I was there day and night for many days, I seen firsthand how they care for each and every animal that comes through that door . . . it was amazing!! Hopefully I will never need to visit an animal emergency clinic again but if I do there is nowhere else I would take my dog. I can never quite express the gratitude I have for these vets and their staff but I would like to think they know how much they mean to me and my little girl. RID: 52599
Click to report rating    4/25/14   1     1     1     1   Terrible place to bring your pets. The vets are very business-oriented and seem to want to maximize their profit per visit. Further, they misdiagnosed my dog and advised me to put him down. I was given much resistance when I refused, instead choosing to find a second opinion. The second vet that I visited shortly afterwards confirmed the misdiagnosis and told me that there was no reason to put my dog down. VetEmerg is expensive, and although the vets are kind, they are not people I would trust your pet's well-being with. RID: 51247
Click to report rating    4/2/14   1     3     2     1   Low compassion and kept my dog for a long time after. I thought he was going to get returned to the clinic that sent me there. Rude staff and the doctors were very uncompassionate with poor english and seemed to be in the business for the money more than the care. Also suggested lot of very expensive tests that were already done recently. RID: 50828
Click to report rating    1/1/14   5     5     5     5   It was very clear from the start that animals and animal care was first and foremost top priority. It was not impersonal nor was the first thing asked for was a credit card. We found the prices to be fair. They took the time with us as the owners making sure we understood our options. Our dog spent six days at the clinic so we saw a lot of care not only for our pet but for others. The compassion and care was some of the best we have ever seen. Every visit the veterinarian updated us on her progress and any treatment changes needed. Being an owner of several pets, I am not new to veterinary clinics and emergency care and I can say without any hesitation Edmonton is very lucky to have this new team of caring dedicated veterinarians ready to respond at any hour of the day for our pets in need. Click to report rating    12/3/13   5     5     5     5   On Saturday my dog Leo decided to check out "those two funny looking dogs", that seemed quite unfriendly... little I knew that the sounds from behind the Spruce Trees came from an encounter with two Coyotes. Going on Google I found the new clinic in the North-End of Edmonton. This was the best experience I ever had with a Vet Clinic in my life. (and Leo had his fair share of those visits - a run-in with a porcupine and a TPLO surgery on his knee). The staff there was amazing. He got immediate attention. We got the estimate and the Dr. took the time to explain all items and the procedures. The Top-notch equipment and a very clean environment impressed me. The estimated price was more then fair and thanks to VetEmerg and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Latif Leo is home and happily being spoiled by the whole family. I would recommend this place to anyone and could not have made a better choice that day to have them take care of my dog. Thomas Ahlswede RID: 48571
Click to report rating    11/28/13   5     5     5     5   (Midnight Nov 21st/2013) Our 18 month old rough collie, was in extremely poor condition having unknown to us ingested some mouse poison a few days prior. Doctors and staff quickly recognized the situation and took immediate action. We are forever in Dr Mohamed Kassem debt for saving our boy, Charlie. Ferd & Rica Caron The care Charlie received was exceptional and we highly recommend VetEmerg for your emergency needs. RID: 48495
Click to report rating    11/27/13   1     1     1     1   Worse clinic ever!!!! Could barely understand the veterinarian...I think his name was Dr. Akmed. No compassion and couldn't believe I would have a dog in the house, didn't even seem to like pets! Avoid if you are looking for any kind of compassion! RID: 48476
