Over priced. Doctor seem to guess diagnosis. Always trying to push unnecessary tests. Never on time.

Brutal Dr. advise last visit. They preformed a bio culture test at around $200 first, then did a scan to find a stone in our dog. Would it not make more sense to scan first (immediate results) then if need be to a culture test, which takes 7 days for the results. Wife walked out with a 500+ bill(this was also the second visit for this issue) and a $2150 surgery still, just not with them! Andrew

I did a 1 week work placement here, and therefore saw the clinic from behind the scenes. I was ASTOUNDED at the level of care and conscientiousness that the vets and staff had for their patients. Every animal brought behind the scenes was treated with respect, patience, and the highest standard of care. The vets are very thorough, and really have the best interest of your pet at heart. I cannot say enough good things about the practice, Dr. Elder, Dr. Papiernik, their wonderful technicians, and their lovely support staff. If I lived in the Ottawa area, this is where I would chose to bring my pets. Highly recommend!

For general healthcare and maintenance, Bayview is fine. However, when it comes to serious illnesses, they've let me down twice. (1) I brought my cat in because of unusual behaviour: lethargy -- just not himself. Bayview couldn't figure it out and referred me to Alta Vista Animal Hospital, who couldn't figure it out either. So, we brought him home and he simply got worse, so we took him back to AV where he died (not euthanized) that afternoon. It was painful to know how much we spent on testing and superficial measures (saline injections) for no actual treatment. (2) Five years ago, in a routine exam, the Vet at Bayview noticed he had Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and had a year/maybe 2 years to live. He died this past weekend from kidney failure. Need to find a good, knowledgeable vet....
