Click to report rating    4/16/20   5     5     5     5   Staff are very helpful either in person or on the phone. They have looked after both my dogs and were very compassionate when I had to put down my first dog. RID: 69189
Click to report rating    3/20/18   5     5     5     5   Fantastic staff and Vets! My dog was treated above and beyond and is doing so well today. Her complications were such most vets would have let her die but Dr. McIntosh and Dr. Ramatour performed nothing short of a miracle. Accolades to them and the amazing and caring staff. Why go anywhere else? RID: 65794
Click to report rating    12/5/17   4     4     4     4   Dr. Walker is amazing! Very compassionate, friendly, and experienced. She never tries to push for unnecessary procedure/treatments. She's also honest and trustworthy! We've been with her for almost 8 years and will never go to another vet! Dr. Walker is the best vet in town! RID: 65156

6/23/17   1     1     1     1   We visited this clinic over a year ago and a Dr. Marcuzzi mis-diagnose our dog and 48 hours later he died. Of course if you ask this quack he lies about our entire conversation and as there is no "independent third party" he get away with it... when do you ever bring a 3rd party to a vet clinic. Beware this person. The collage who gave him a degree would give him a refund and take their paper back. RID: 64004
Click to report rating    3/12/17   5     5     5     5   We have been clients of Algonquin, in particular of Dr Walker, for over 20 years. Dr Walker is a superb veterinarian - skilled at her job, conscientious and compassionate. Dr Mcintosh is also a fine veterinarian. In general, I have found the front office staff courteous and helpful. Compared with some other clinics their charges are reasonable. RID: 63002
Click to report rating    11/18/16   2     3     2     1   Money grabber! Staff in the back is noisy. Unprofessional attitude. They try to sale and push you to to tests or surgery for your pets to maximize the bill. They bring your pet to the back room. I heard other dog scream loudly in the back. God knows what happening there. They don't even care about the dog until i ask the vet to check up on my pet before giving me advices (!?) RID: 62034

1/25/16   1     3     1     1   Avoid this place at all costs. Rude, dishonest and unscrupulous staff at the front desk with unavailable medical staff at the back end make this place a nightmare. It is an assembly line, with no consideration for your pet and a focus only on the bottom line and dollars. Go somewhere else if you care at all about your pet. RID: 59585
Click to report rating    4/16/15   2     4     3     2   Dr Walker is a fantastic vet but the reception staff are so rude that it is impossible to deal with them. Two of them in particular (including the office manager) are just awful. It is very busy there and you do not get the personal touch that other vet clinics can offer. The reception staff has too much power, little supervision, and way too much attitude. I get the feeling that, because it is a busy clinic, they feel like they don't need to provide good customer service. If their reception staff was as good as the vet it would be a great place to go. RID: 56655
Click to report rating    2/24/15   1     3     3     1   They are money grabbers. The doctor has a timer on the outside of her door and has to record the time spent so that they track how much she is making them per hour. They charge you a minimum of $50 every time you walk through the door even if you were there just a couple of days before for a total check-up and the vet asked you to come back for a quick look. I was there less than 5 minutes for the vet to make sure that my dogs skin was liking the prescribed medecine and I was charged $80. They are constantly up-selling and then making a face and making you feel bad if you don't buy what they are selling. RID: 56016
Click to report rating    2/22/15   1     3     3     3   We took our dog here for her yearly exams and boosters when we lived in Ottawa (moved away last aug.). The vets seemed caring enough. My biggest complaint would be with staff hastiness with whatever goes on"in the back room". I had always trimmed my dog's nails every 2-3 weeks myself, and she did just fine with it. Every time you go here though they offer a nail trim (for a fee of course). One time I thought why the heck not try it out. They took her to the back room, and I could hear her screaming from outside. When I got her back, 5 nails were bleeding. They had cut the quicks, hadn't properly cauterized them, and it was a rainy day so the little puddle that gathered in the waiting room from everyone's shoes turned pinkish from her blood. The assistant? who brought her back SAW this and just awkwardly walked away in a rush. Now my dog won't let me anywhere near her nails without a struggle. One botched service was enough. What else are they hasty about behind closed doors? RID: 55990
Click to report rating    1/6/15   5     5     4     5   I have sine moved from this area back to Southern ON but I had to comment as this is the MOST wonderful clinic I have been a member of! The staff were always warm and fun and the girls up front always remembered my name. Something I haven't experience much at any business of any type before! I am surprised to read some negative reviews about Dr. McIntosh but I just can't believe it! He was always very caring to both my cats and dog, explained things very clearly and I always felt safe even when I had to leave my dog overnight. Prices can be a bit high, but I was always MORE than willing to pay because you get what you pay for in this world!! And if you want a friendly experience with a truly caring and knowledgable vet, then I would have been willing to pay double! Down here in the GTA, prices are definitely way worse! Miss my true 'home' clinic Algonguin Animal hospital! RID: 55332
Click to report rating    11/8/14   4     4     5     5   Been going to Algonquin for almost 10 years and it's always been a very pleasant experience. Dr. Walker is a fantastic vet; very down to Earth and non-judgmental. I've always found the staff to be quite friendly as well. Also, their "human cookies" are the BEST cookies I've ever tasted! RID: 54525
Click to report rating    7/22/14   2     2     2     3   I took my dog to this vet since 2004. Dr. Flood was our regular vet and she was great but she was no longer at that facility. Over the past 4 years or so, I noticed a change in staff and developing poor attitude. I started to feel uncomfortable taking my pet to this vet. Two years ago, while in for her yearly routine exam, they said they had to take my dog into another room to check her bum region. I asked to go with my pet, but they said a surgery was being prepped for another animal and wouldn't allow me in the room due to germs. I heard my dog yelping from behind the closed door. I had never heard my 8 year old dog yelp like that before. After that visit, I never went back and never will. RID: 52676
7/16/14   1     4     3     1   I cannot comment on any of the other vets on staff, but my experience with Dr. McIntosh was very negative. Brought my dog in for a rabies vaccine. Both he and the front staff refused to listen to a word I said about my dog, and dragged the poor thing around the clinic on his leash. It was disgusting to watch. The doctor does a check-up, determines that he is malnourished and starts trying to sell me an expensive recipe book and supplements for home-made dog food. He and his staff bully me to the point where I have to call in my spouse to get me out of there. A few months later my dog has a tracheal collapse and we bring him to a different veterinarian's office. The vet there tells me that it is a very common condition in small dogs that should have been investigated when he was diagnosing my dog(the early symptoms include coughing, dislike of exercise, and laboured breathing). RID: 52598
Click to report rating    5/2/14   1     1     1     1   Brought my cat there and we both had an awful time. Staff were extremely rude and inexperienced. Especially the one wearing the blue uniform. Took my cat to a different room and God knows what was happening there. Came back, my cat bleeding..they injured my cat!! Can you believe that!! We went there for a simple yearly vaccination. I very upset and i let them know about it. Vet was ok and understanding of my frustration. I WILL NEVER EVER STEP FOOT IN THERE. I wouldn't even advise my worst enemy to do so. Plenty of better vets around with competitive prices. Shop around before you make a decision..This will affect you and your pet. GO THERE AT YOUR OWN RISK! RID: 51352
Click to report rating    1/19/14   5     5     4     4   I have only ever had good experiences when visiting this clinic. Dr. Erick is fantastic and great with my dogs! RID: 49342
Click to report rating    1/1/14   4     4     4     5   I have been going to this clinic for many years and have always been happy with the service I have received. Vets and staff are very helpful. RID: 49025
Click to report rating    11/15/13   1     3     3     1   The vets are kind (although young) but the Staff are terribly rude. The prices outrageous compared to other vets in the city. RID: 48265
5/24/13   1     1     1     1   I took my new puppy here for his rabbies shot, however, they never recorded it. I moved back to Mississauga and went to get him fixed, however, they needed proof of his shots. When I called Algonquin animal hospital for the info they tried to tell me, he had never recieved shots there and the front desk lady was extremely rude about it. She treated me like I was stupid. However, a few months later, I found my invoice for visit and sure enough I had been charged for the shots. By this time, my poor puppy had already recieved them for the second time. I went back to Algonquin animal hospital to ask for a refund as I now had to pay for the service twice because of them. They refunded me 13$, the cost of the shot, but would not refund me the cost of the entire visit which costs over 100$! I was and still am very angry. It there fault I had to pay for a second visit which again cost over 100$! DO NOT GO HERE THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE OR ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS RID: 42676
Click to report rating    4/19/13   3     4     3     3   Dr. Walker is a fantastic, compassionate Vet. Takes the time to explain everything and great on follow up, unlike Dr. Stewart who never returns phone calls. Front desk staff are often rude and abrupt - should practice their customer relation skills a little more. Overall, a good place. RID: 41871

Click to report rating    4/17/12   4     4     5     4   Dr. Walker is amazing. We have brought both of our dogs there for over 4 years and she is more than willing to make follow up phone calls to make sure they are healing well. She always returns messages left for her, often herself. We swtiched to Dr. Walker after having a very bad experience with Dr. Stewart. Staff could be friendlier, but service is good. Pricing is a bit steep, but treatment is great. RID: 33599
Click to report rating    10/26/11   1     4     1     1   When our dog was young we brought her here for her check up. The vet saw she was scratching her collar(she was not used to wearing it)and he assumed she was scratching her ear. He did tests and told us she had a ear infection and prescribed drops. Our bill was over $300 and my dog did not have an ear infection at all. she just needed her ears cleaned out, and her collar taken off!the vet was also a student. The next time we were going for a check up we arrived about 5 minutes early and the receptionist was talking to other customers. about 5 minutes after our appointment was supposed to be she came over to us and said "sorry you were late for your appointment we cannot see you today." and made an appointment for about 1 month from then.she then called us a few days before the appointment and said she needed to change it to a later date. so we changed it again! and on the day we went she said we did not have an appointment booked for that day or any other day for that matter. NOT GOOD! RID: 28609
Click to report rating    8/24/11   2     4     4     3   Brought in our 16 year old cat with a cough, asked for a chest x-ray and allergy test since I'm in the industry (Groomer, studying as vet tech) but vet refused. Had to rush her to Ottawa veterinary hospital 2 days later, turned out she had lung cancer. RID: 27151
Click to report rating    7/17/11   5     5     5     2   Dr. Walker has been great with our Spinger Spaniel,Izzy. She will be 13 next month. Too bad they have to charge "city" prices! RID: 26283
Click to report rating    5/27/11   5     5     5     5   I had to put my cat down for kidney disease. Dr Mellick was very compasionate and made me feel better for making a really hard decision. She is a great vet and I will bring my other pets to see her soon. RID: 25268
Click to report rating    3/25/11   5     4     4     4   Great visit. Things were explained well and I thought that the price was reasonable for what we went for. The vet from PEI was very nice. RID: 23851
Click to report rating    11/23/10   1     3     2     3   Used to be good but lately many errors made including wrong apt dates and wrong dosage of medications. Also unhappy with dentistry. Less than one year after my dogs were done, their breath was just as bad. Sometimes staff is rude. New vets are young and not so experienced. RID: 21022
Click to report rating    3/3/08   5     5     5     5   Especially nice to see their experience with small mammals like rabbits. Service has been very knowledgeable and compassionate. Efforts are made to provide complete care at minimal cost. RID: 7605
