I was a client of Prevost vet for my entire life since my parents had pets. Their care has gone way way downhill. I took my dog there two years in a row and mentioned specifically he had a blue shine in his eyes. This is common to PRA, which is common to my breed. Both vets missed it, despite my insistence something was wrong. As a result my dog ended up losing his eye.

Love this place. They saved my baby at no charge. It is a small office and they are often running late. But they also have same day appointments and I rather get in same day and wait an hour then not get in for a couple days. I will recommened this place to any animal lover.

We have dealt with this Vet Clinic for almost 37 years for all our pets. They are very compassionate and caring. It takes a bit to find one vet that your pet is comfortable with and once that's established half the battle is won. As for cost....treatments are expensive just as they are for people. Get pet insurance if cost is an issue. We will continue to use this clinic for as long as we have pets. Very satisfied with the service and Staff.

Dr L and his staff have cared for our lab/boxer/ridgeback cross for many many years. In November 2016, Tasha was diagnosed with cancer and given a short time. We instituted guidelines recommended by Mt Prevost Vet and yesterday, 51 weeks later, Dr. L came to our house yesterday and spent HOURS with us. He diagnosed a severe stroke, gave us many options and waited in his car while we made the difficult decision. He then spent a long time with us ensuring it was best for our Tasha, and then helping her over the rainbow bridge to doggie heaven. We have NO hesitation in recommending Dr L and his entire staff for their service over the years! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I'm very disappointed with Prevost Vet. Information that was confidential about my dogs got leaked to a few people, (which is against the law and they said that) after I took my dog to emergency at 9:30pm when only two people were there.
I went down to Prevost Vet as soon as I found out stuff was getting leaked. I went in there and the lady at receptionist wrote a note to the owner to call me after a week of waiting he never called me so I called them, they put me through to him and he was so rude didn't care at all about what I was telling him and told me I was lying I explained I had evidence and I would show him and he didn't care what so ever, he told me that he would get the manger to call me in a few days, it's been a week and a half and I'm still waiting. I will never take my dogs there again and neither will any of my family.

What a zoo! Too many doctors, too little space, both inside and out lack of parking. We came here to get care for our kitty and his severe ear mites infestation. We called ahead to get prices and were overcharged afterwards. Dr J. Buller let us wait for nearly an hour past the appointment time. Apparently she was on the phone and one of the assistants came out to apologize and say she would nudge her to hurry up. Front desk staff is friendly but in chaos and not communicating between themselves. Within 10minutes I had to repeat myself 3 times because the staff doesn't track each case very well. Dr Buller is cold and careless, and treats you like a number. Never coming back to answer questions after the technician returned our cat. $300 for 10min consultation with 5min treatment & medication is outrageous. Other customer in waiting room commented "...I paid for half this place". We won't be back!

I was incredibly unsatisfied with my experience at this clinic the handful of times I attempted to use them. Though the staff behind the desk were friendly, once I was in with the vet I was met with both an uncaring attitude and a very inexperienced and confused response to my dog's condition. I was given terrible advice on how to handle my dog and her illness was not taken care of properly until I gathered enough sense to seek out care from another clinic. They are more money hungry than compassionate, and quite frankly they do not have the service to back up their prices the way that cheaper clinics in the area do.

My six year multiple animal experience with this clinic has been both good and bad. I will not use Dr Yeung after his uncaring and uninformed response (he was completely unfamiliar with my dog's fairly common health issue) to an emergency call I made. And be prepared for a long wait - often an hour or even more. That said, I have found most of the vets and staff here very good, very empathetic, and very respectful. Just like with human health care, though, get copies of all blood work, learn to read them for yourself, get second opinions before committing to expensive elective surgeries or tests. Conditions requiring tests costing hundreds of dollars have miraculously disappeared or become much less serious when I got a second opinion, on more than one occasion.

Have dealt with this clinic off and on for 30 years. All the vets I have dealt with here and especially Dr. Al Longair, who is a truly kind, caring, compassionate caregiver to animals have been very good. I can't say enough. I have dealt with others in the Cowichan Valley but came back here as I feel so much more confidence that my animals are truly cared about. As for expensive all vets are expensive - I at least feel I get value for my money.

I have been bringing my pets to this clinic for over 20 years. I moved away and tried to find a more local vet to deal with emergencies but found most of them egotistical and expensive so I continue to drive an hour each way and take holiday time from work to take my animals there (I currently have 5). I have never felt like I am being overcharged, can have a respectful discussion with the vet about my pet's health issues and they make sure I am educated and informed about any issues. The surgeon, Dr Wiren is phenomenal and I trust him to do any orthopedic surgery above any other vet in the province. The staff are all lovely and caring. Dr Longair has gone above and beyond in dealing with some of the health issues my pets have had and I trust him completely.

Absolutely best Vet I've ever dealt with! Our 4 year old lab needed knee surgery and we went for initial consult to get concrete diagnosis. Front office staff were amazing (Thank you Joanna!) and got us in the same week for consult with Dr Wiren. Dr. Wiren knew exactly the problem, showed us models of the knee issue our Lab was experiencing, presented us with 3 different surgical options (all 3 have almost the exact same success rate yet range thousands in price and invasiveness ) the care our Lab received before, during and after surgery was exact, professional and caring. I don't normally use these rating services but other than standing on the roof top, this is the best way I can FULLY recommend Prevost, Joanna and the front staff and Dr. Wiren. If you have a lab needing knee surgery, you found the right place! SP, Port Alberni, BC

I am rating Prevost Clinic on one experience only, kitty dental work. At Prevost I sought a second opinion from my previous clinic and was really pleased with a substantial reduction in price and a more relaxed timeline. I am very very happy with how the surgery and post-op care went with my cat. The staff were wonderful and the vet was excellent. Thanks Prevost!

I was told this is the best Clinic in Duncan after moving here and leaving my amazing Vet in Richmond, BC. Sadly, I have not had good experiences, the four times I've tried them...The front office staff are friendly. The first vet I saw gave advice even I knew was suspect (and confirmed with another vet later on when the situaion worsened.) Charging an inflated consultation fee twice did not improve my feelings about this business. Nor did taking my dog for after surgery care while I sat in the waiting room. I've never ever had that happen before. Worst Vet service I've ever seen. I'm not some angry ranting person, just in awe of some questionable practices, care and prices (twice what I was charged in my previous vets for consults and we spent half the time talking about the Vet's dog!) So now I am travelling an hour away so I can get the care my dog deserves. Sorry Prevost, but you lost a customer...

I have been going to this clinic since 1982 and have always found the vets I have seen to be very good Dr.Wiren , Dr A Longair & Dr S Lersche, I use Dr Lersche most the time now as that is my preference to just have 1 vet for my dogs, I highly recommend the clinic to my Puppy buyers.

Have been going here for many years after too many bad experiences with veterinarians in Nanaimo. The staff are all great. Our two previous vets have left and we now have Dr Yeung for our four dogs. I find him to be thorough and if he doesn't know or is not sure he will research and get other opinions. Dr Yeung has a big heart and his concern includes follow up with phone calls which is rare now a days. He can be a little hard to get to know because he is from another culture but take the time because he can be quite funny and totally on board with options for your critters care.

I have been with this clinic for 12years and always received great service and compassionate true loving care for my Dogs. My only concern is Dr Horace Yeung. I have had the pleasure of relying on his services twice and am sorry to say he does not meet the hi standard that the other staff offers. Just saying. If you love your pets and you want great health care for your animal do not see this doctor. I must say all other staff is great. Really above average!!

Excellent bunch of people, Not sure what the other person was talking about Dr. Yeung. He is treating our dog and is wonderful, understanding, caring beyond. Never had that kind of treatment before, would recommend him to anyone, the whole staff is amazing, Thank you for all your dedication and love for Niner!

Dr. Lerche was compassionate, respectful, helpful, and explained everything thoroughly and clearly. He also took my experience into account in determining appropriate care for my palliative dog.On the other hand, I once had to deal with Dr. Yeung for a late-night emergency. He was hard to understand, reluctant to come in, seemed unfamiliar with a common disorder my dog had, gave suggestions that indicated he was not listening to the symptoms I reported and I would never deal with him again. I wish this rating site would allow us to rate actual VETS,rather than the clinic which may contain many vets. The clinic is great; the ONE vet is not.

Fantastic clinic with very knowledgeable staff. They were great with our older dog's knee surgery and he has recovered super fast. They also don't upcharge on prescriptions and will send you to the regular pharmacy to get the generic brand wherever possible. This is the first clinic I've ever been to where the vets will do this. Kudos and keep up the fantastic work!

I am into my 29th year with this clinic. I recommend them highly to anyone that asks and I also refer my clients to them. They have and do go above and beyond at all times. If I need them in the middle of the night or at any time of the day, they are there. I have oftentimes needed to take one of my breeding ****es to them in stress, and they are always there. They are always there when I have to let an aged dog go whether it's a Monday or a Sunday. I have never in all the years that I have attended this clinic felt the need to go elsewhere for a 2nd opinion as I have complete and utter faith in them. Long live Prevost! (and docs/staff too :-)

Knowledgeable vets who take the time. They are somewhat tardy in their appointment times however it is because they take time with each person and animal. Dr Longair, Dr Lerche are equally great and Dr Wiren is superior in his surgery.

We see Dr. Longair at this veterinary clinic. He is very thorough and has a gentle and kind manner with our cats. He is exceptionally knowlegable and has a wonderful perspective on health issues. He will not recommend procedures or medications unless he feels confident that it will truly help the animal. He answers questions in the appointment, without rushing you out the door. He also returns phonecalls. This is the best vet I've ever been to; he truly cares about the well-being of his "patients."
