I highly recommend Dr Victor Negrea. His approach to my cat so was respectful, kind and friendly. I also feel he is very competent. He was helpful and answered all my questions, even took time to phone me at home. Thank you Dr Negrea!

Sailed from Saturna Island to Beacon Pet Hospital yesterday as a walk in emergency when our dog got a spearhead grass seed in his ear (on the first day of our holiday!) Dr Victor Negrea saved the day when he sedated our dog and dug deep in his ear to retrieve the seed which could not be seen with the naked eye. He also discovered an ear infection that our own vet had missed. Throughout Dr Negrea was kind, patient and gentle with our pup. He was charming, informative and totally professional with us. He offered his excellent service at a very competitive price. We are now once more happily ensconced on the island enjoying the remainder of our holiday. Thank you Dr Negrea.

My 2 year old kitten Mallory urinated on a white towel I had thrown on the bathroom floor. This was very unusual behavior for her, but more alarming was the color of the stain: deep red. I knew something was very wrong and she was trying to tell me so. This was mid-day on a Saturday. After phoning several clinics and being told it would be several days before she could be seen, I contacted with Beacon Pet Hospital, 5 minutes from my new residence in Sidney. They said to bring Mallory in immediately. DR.Victor Negrea examined her and x-rayed her that day. Mallory had a kidney stone in her bladder and a resultant infection. I left her in the clinic and DR.Negrea performed surgery within 24 hours. The stone was sent off for analysis to help determine the cause and formulate a plan to help prevent recurrence.As a health care professional, I value this kind of dedication and service. I highly recommend Beacon Pet Hospital.

We have 4 indoor cats that we absolutely adore and have been seeing Dr. Negrea since the previous vet sold the business. When we met him, we could tell immediately that he has a true love for animals and was very tender and caring toward our cats.
As cat owners for nearly 20 years, we can absolutely state that Dr. Negrea is hands down the most caring, friendly and pleasant person we have had tending to our cats. His office staff are exceptional and they really enhance his ability to provide care.
This is a man who really cares and loves animals and it shows in how he conducts himself at all of our visits. We trust the doctor and his advice. He is pragmatic, friendly and really considers the best for the fuzzy patient, while giving you all of the options to make the best choice.
We would highly recommend him to anyone who has animals that they love as he will care for them in the way that you would want and he is someone who truly has a passion and love for all of his pat

Dr. Negrea and the staff are highly professional, prompt, and friendly. The treatment "plans" put in place for my cats were both comprehensive and reasonable. The facility is clean and the doctor is readily available to answer questions or concerns. Dr. Negrea shows compassion for his clients, and is clearly passionate about his work. I'm very pleased with the Beacon Pet Hospital.

I would like to strongly recommend Dr. Victor Negrea and his staff at Beacon Pet Hospital in Sidney. Doctor Victor is a skilled, knowledgeable and innovative clinician, dedicated to his profession. But more than that, he treats his furring patients with such tenderness and dignity and his clients with respect and compassion. He strives to equip his hospital with state of the art equipment. His computerized record keeping allows his to give his clients a detailed explanation of your pet’s condition and the treatment plan. His explanations are meticulous but easily understood. Beacon Cat Hospital is a very respectable clinic. The staff is filled with integrity, I cannot begin to say enough positive things about them. Dr. Victor Negrea is a kind, whole hearted man, who cared for my dog and two cats and told me exactly what needed to be done and said it with the benefit for my pets and I. Don't believe the one or two bad reviews for they can be trolls on the internet trying to ruin an amazing doctor's reputation. Thank you doctor for the amazing treatment of the animals that I call family, and here is a small token of my appreciation.

We had used this clinic for our previous cat so we continued with our new cat. General check ups and care was good. The dental work that was done was a very bad experience for us and our kitty. Another vet repaired the damage and we will never go back to Beacon Cat Hospital. I could not recommend this vet.

Dr. Ellen has been our vet for almost 25 years. We are a small, local, rescue group and have always found her to be very caring, very reasonable & very professional. We live & work in Victoria but have made the trip out to Sidney for years to get the excellent care that Dr. Ellen & her staff provide. Over the years we have recommended Dr. Ellen to others who have needed help with their cats & have always had good reports back from these people. She's the best!

I went in there to get some information about moving my cat over to prescription food, and whilst I was talking to the receptionist she had to go to the back of the clinic and ask Dr Guttormson a question. As the door opened I could hear and see Dr Guttormson shouting and using extremely foul language! I was very shocked to hear this sort of language coming from a professional person, and what is supposed to be a professional business. I am not a prude but there is a time and a place for this sort of language and a cat hospital during business hours is certainly not what I would count as one of them! I walked out of there disgusted that this sort of language could be used in an environment where members of the public and customers are within hearing distance. I do pity the staff if this is what they have to listen to all day. I know I couldn't!

great caring doctor, usually available on short notice and willing to help. Have not met a vet yet that is cheap but her costs are reasonable. small operation just focused on cats. would not take my cat elsewhere

Some time ago we found a rude receptionist. Unfortunately the vet. backed her staff member when we told her about the incident, so we moved vets. and are more than happy to have done so.

BCH helped us with the last four years of life of an elderly cat who chose to settle with us and had not had vet care in the past. She finally died of cancer and was helped on her way by Dr. Ellen, who made a home visit and handled the situation with enormous sensitivity and gentleness. We swear by BCH!!!

Reply to the comment below. Dr. Ellen Guttormson does not "push yearly shots" for indoor cats. The vaccination for each cat is recommended depending on the individual circumstances of each cat. It is usual that a totally indoor cat, which does not go out on a balcony, does not board, or has no contact with other animals that go outside has vaccination only every 2nd or 3rd year. This also varies with the age of the cat. Rabies vaccination is recommeded for indoor cats as Beacon Cat Hospital had a situation a few years ago whereby an old cat that had moved from Vancouver and was indoor only came into contact inside the house with a bat which tested positive for Rabies at the federal lab. Luckily this cat had always had vaccination for Rabies before moving to Victoria.

I am happy with this clinic and take my cat here. However, they do still try to push yearly shots when the recommendation for indoor cats is three year intervals, and tried to have us bring her in for a teeth cleaning. The estimate? "Starts at $500" and goes up from there. Uh. No.
