Dr. Halverson is an amazing vet. She is patient and kind and takes time time to discuss things and answer questions. Have been seeing her for 8 1/2 years with all animals I have had and will continue to do so as long as she practices. Facility is great, only a 4/5 on staff as there have been some miscommunications as of late and some days they aren't as friendly - but it is a very busy clinic.

Been a client here for years, excellent help, attitude, competence, compassion. I moved to Victoria but still return when I have a real problem and always get good advice, and real assistance. Recommend them without reservation.

Can't say enough good things about this clinic. Our cat got very sick the day before we were heading away for our 30th wedding anniversary. They got us in with a few hours notice and did all they could to help our kitty out. He needed medical intervention that our carer could not supply so he spent the weekend in the clinics care. They called us to leave daily VM's advising of his condition and put our minds to rest. GREAT PEOPLE!

Everyone has been nice in there own way. Dor not feel like we are heard when we go in and made to feel like we r bad pet parents. We don't have a lot of money and every time we go in it seems to cost us a fortune never has a bill been undereally 100. Just seems like recently they are money hungry.

Best veterinary clinic I have ever been to in my 34 years of german shepherd ownership. Dr Sakai recently euthanized our female german shepherd due to cancer. The compassion and care shown was second to none that I have dealt with.Our girl went so peacefully, like drifting into a sleep. The cost for this was less than other places that we have used in the past, although the care and professionalism was superior.

Dr. Jen is amazing !! So compassionate and caring. She treats my fur babies as they were her own. I lost a few very senior dogs in the last few yrs and found it to be very affordable as well as all the staff being very thoughtful and sweet.Debbie at the front desk is lovely and goes the extra mile !! I cant say enough about all the staff there . Wonderful vet hospital .

I highly recommend Chase River Vet Clinic, I have been very pleased with them since they first opened. All the staff are so friendly, they have a way of making you feel like a personal friend and are amazing with my pets. I rarely have to wait more than about 5 minutes when I go in for an appointment and I find their rates are very reasonable.

Amazing staff & unit. Vets are extremely caring. I have never walked into the clinic with out seeing the staff smile at those who walk in. As much as I am sure they would love all pets be spayed and neutered they also understand good responsible breeders and excellent with all aspects of reproduction and puppy care !!! I have also been with a friend during the loss of their dog and was so impressed with the care they took. Making sure the owner had all the time in the world in the room even though they had clients waiting to go in I am sure. It is these small things that make a client feel appreciated and I do feel it is still possible to have a good working relationship and even a friendship with your vet and their staff. I recommend everyone to this clinic. I strongly suggest sharing your view on this clinic ...........good or bad and give this clinic the recognition it deserves !!!! The very best In Nanaimo

We have taken both our cat and dog to this clinic. We eventually had to euthanize our cat and certainly appreciated the care and comfort afforded by the clinic and the fact they have a special room where family can be with their pet during the process made it that much easier. We still have two other cats and while I cannot say I like all the Doctors, I am happy with the ones we now see.

Dr. Halverson is an excellent vet. She takes time to explain options but doesn't push her personal opinions and respects our decisions. The entire staff has been very helpful and patient with my large puppy that tends to urinate when she gets weighed in. (they assure me she'll outgrow it) :) I highly recommend this clinic.

Everything I've read about Dr. Lawrie is true - he's terrific! I recently took my chihuahua to Chase River Veterinary Hospital to be neutered and Dr. Lawrie really took the time to explain everything to me, addressed all of my concerns and offered very sound advice. My little chi received the best of care and had no complications whatsoever. My experience will all of the staff at CRVH has been very positive. I highly recommend this clinic.

I unfortunately had to take my cat to get euthanized. I looked around on the web and saw some of the nice comments here. The staff was wonderful in providing private room right away, and very caring in the whole process. I appreciated the assistance during this emotional procedure. Been able to stay and hold my cat if I wanted to, and spend time after with her before leaving through the private exit made this all easier. Thank you

our first dog was very sick, no one knew what was wrong it looked like the end......Dr.Halvorsen discovered at the last minute he had Addison's disease.....started treatment and he is better than brand new.....and will be competing at the AAC National Championship this August. Our second dog was mysteriously ill with diarhea and after many appointments and many consultations is on the mend and doing absolutely better after we found out what was going on. This clinic has saved two of my dogs and wow I am so grateful!They are the best of the best!The support staff are unbelievable caring and skilled. I feel lucky to be their patient

We were having second thoughts about another vet we were seeing so we brought our sick, 15 year old diabetic cat in for a second opinion. We saw Dr. Ian Lawrie. He was great! He told us the truth right from the start ...... even though it wasn't what we really wanted to hear. Instead of telling us that we should treat our cat and undergo testing, he told us that at his stage in kidney failure (which we were told was a urinary tract infection by our previous vet), recovery was grim and that euthanization was the most suitable choice. He was very supportive and comforting. The technicians were also very supportive and understanding. We even got hugs before we left.

I am a first time pet owner and originally took my dog to Peteroglyph Vet Clinic. All though the staff was great I felt their pricing was out to lunch. My dog who was a repeat patient at their clinic was ready to be spayed and they wanted to charge not only for the surgery, but a consultation appointment. Chase River had a much better rate and I am glad I went with them. After a smooth surgery I stopped by serveral times for a follow up and was just blowen away by their customer service. My dog was recently stung by a wasp and had a horrible reaction. We called the vet, they advised what to do and then followed up a while later to make sure she was okay. I highly reccommend them to any pet owner. Great value and service.

Fantastic experience with 'our new vet'. Couldn't have been happier with the experience we had with Dr. Halverson when we phoned after hours after our cat was seriously injured in a fight. She made us feel 100% better about the situation and got us in to see her first thing the next day. She is honest, empathetic, a good listener and trustworthy. The other staff we dealt with were amazing as well. So glad we moved to the south end and have these guys as our vets!

I took my puppy here, after I had purchased him from a local pet store. The vet not only remembered seeing my puppy here for his previous visits from before I became his owner, but also remembered his disposition which was perfectly correct. He has a sweet, calm, and passive disposition. She answered all my questions in a pleasant and informative way without talking down to me. I have not been pressured into purchasing anything extra, food, flea treatments, etc. Also I asked questions about another pet I have and the vet took the time to thoroughly answer my questions, even though the pet at this point is not a patient there. This is definitely going to be my vet from now on.

What a wonderful vet's office this is! My dog had an emergency eye injury and needed to be seen right away. They got me in that day! The doctor skipped his lunch to look at my dog. He was very friendly, cheerful, thorough and helpful. They honestly care about you and your pets. I'm a customer for life!

Great vet clinic. I have been seeing Dr Lawrie for all pet needs, since 2000, when he was at Island Vet Clinic. He has never done wrong and always provides the best care with all our pets. Reasonably priced and a vet who actually cares about the pets and treats them like they are family!

I absolutley love Dr.Ian Lawrie I used to take my dogs to Island but when I heard he was going to be at this office and it is so close to my home it was not a hard desicion to switch my files! I recommend Ian and Jen to everyone I know they are both great. I only wish it wasnt so hard to get in to see Ian sometimes I have to wait a day or two and depending on the situation it would be best if they had 3 or so appointments left open every day for rapid appointments needed asap but other then that I love this office and Dr.Lawrie and wont be going anywhere else!! :)

Dr Ian Lawrie, and Dr Halverson are both very professional. Both are great with my dogs, detailed, and listen to my concerns. They are open to Holistic approach. They truly care about their patients. Clinic is spotlessly clean, staff friendly, Vet available 7 days a week. I highly recommend this clinic.

This is a new clinic in the south end of Nanaimo. We cannot say enough about the professionalism, honesty and compassion of this hospital. We happened upon it by chance when our cat was very ill. Dr Lawrie is very attentive to our pets, and truly cares. He offeres an expert opinion, puts things into understandable explanations and provides excellent follow-up. We would never go anywhere else. The staff are friendly and professional.
