Click to report rating    9/16/23   1     1     1     1   I called this clinic on 14-Sep-2023 to make an appointment for my African gray parrot, I said he needs his nails trimmed, wi G's clipped and maybe his beak might need filing. I was told that except beak the others done by a technician but beak has to be done by the vet. And they are booked until December. I asked since there is no waiting for seeing a technician why can't I bring my bird for his nails and wings, and wait until December for his beak. I was told no, first time visits has to be with vet first then the technician and if I want to book an appointment for a potential appointment in December I have to make a payment immediately. I said what if doctor leaves, or dies, what if my bird dies, she said then you can get your money back, but you have to pay first. I find it shady. And she was wrong there are other vets in Ottawa look after small animals and birds. ?f they are asking money for even make an appointment, I wouldn't trust them with my any animals. RID: 70842

Click to report rating    7/26/18   5     5     5     5   I booked an emergency appt with lynnwood about a month ago, as all other small animal vets in the area were booked. they had an appt open that afternoon and I was not charged the emergency fee as it was a regular slot. I was worried that i would feel cheated of my money (99 dollars for pocket pet examination) but after visiting I sincerely do not. I never felt rushed to make a decision, and had everything (even the location of the bronchioles- in Dr. Flegels defence I do look quite young) explained thoroughly to me. In the end I decided to euthanize my sweet rattie-I had both options outlined to me and didnt feel pressured or like a bad owner and The euthanization fee was included in the exam fee- which is a smart move in my opinion. While the hospital is very posh, and that probably contributes to the high prices- I feel like my money was well spent, esp considering the 2 hours we spent. Dr. Flegel even waived the per 10 min charge for oxygen. Overall good experience. RID: 66546
Click to report rating    3/27/18   4     4     4     3   My parrot had some sort of skin parasite or allergy and after all the tests he was still going crazy with itching we've never found a cure despite trying every remedy possible. Dr. Brown was supposed to see him but after driving over 2 hours one way for his appointment we were handed over to a vet in training who was trained by Dr Brown. Not quite the same thing! Given the fees there I felt we were short-changed. RID: 65839
Click to report rating    3/15/18   5     5     5     5   We phoned for an emergency appointment and they had us in the next day! Fantastic environment, super clean and the staff was extremely friendly to us and our little pet. And sadly we had to put out pet down, they were all about respect and made the processes as easy as possible. Cannot recommend enough! RID: 65769
Click to report rating    1/30/18   5     5     5     5   We bring our entire pet family to Lynwood (birds, dogs and bunny) and are always so impressed with the care and attention we receive. Dr. Roscoe and her team of veterinary technicians are truly skilled and devoted professionals; our questions are always fully answered, there is never a moment when we feel that we are taking too much of their time and above all, our pets health and well being is always treated as a priority. In all of the years we have had pets and have gone to numerous veterinary clinics, Lynwood is the only one that enables us to sensitize our pets to a veterinary appointment: we have been able to visit the clinic, with our pet, before an appointment - giving our pet the reassurance of returning to a familiar place. Then, after an appointment, we can take some extra time to ensure our pet is calm before the drive home. RID: 65487
Click to report rating    8/30/17   1     4     4     1   I was told they were comfortable with treating my "exotic" animal. I was charged an obscene amount for 3 vet visits. All they did was a sloppy avian splint, which broke one of his fingers, caused nerve damage and holes in his wings. He lost his teeth from chewing on the splint b/c of how tight it was and it was causing damage to his bones. On the last visit, I was spoken to as if I was an incompetent caregiver, and the vet was aggressively suggesting euthanasia, because of the damage caused by the weight of the splints; Which they did not take responsibility for. I was then scolded for bringing my animal to them, even though they had NO PROBLEM taking my money (Over $500 for 3 visits), and would call my Supervisor of the Caregiving Institute every time trying to eliminate my position as main caregiver. In their records, they DID NOT state the damage they caused, just complaints about me as a caregiver. Absolutely Unprofessional! It's only a CASH GRAB for them. Sincerely the Middle Man RID: 64547
Click to report rating    8/31/15   5     5     4     4   I want to thank Dr. Poulton and Dr. Brown for their wonderful caring help. My dog was sick and they walked me through my options with patients and compassion. I will never forgot their help. RID: 58247
Click to report rating    5/11/15   5     5     5     5   Out of all the vets here I was extremely impressed by Dr. Tracey Poulton. I've never met such a wonderful, understanding and informative veterinarian such as her. She seemed to really care about my dog and his needs and spent a lot of time explaining things to me in terms I could understand. Having a vet that cares about you and your pet and is willing to spend time to educate you to help you make the best decision is something VERY hard to come by. She goes the extra mile and she's clearly very experienced. Knows what she's doing. RID: 56972
Click to report rating    6/24/14   5     5     5     5   This is the only Ottawa vet I would take my guinea pigs to. They saved Zeus' life after not one, but two other vets in Ottawa failed to properly diagnose and provide the correct treatment for my guinea pig. Lynwood is thorough, honest, and provides very high quality care. RID: 52242
Click to report rating    5/9/14   2     3     4     1   This vet seems to care more about gouging patients for money than the animals themselves. Prescription food is marked up nearly double the actual cost (they add an extra $25 to a $48 case), and unnecessary tests are "recommended" to get even more money out of you. Reception staff are wonderful, but I would not recommend this vet. RID: 51501
Click to report rating    1/14/14   5     5     5     3   We've been bringing our dog to Lynwood for the past couple years. After a couple accidents that landed us at the emergency pet hospital (now THAT is a gouging), we were somewhat wary about clinics in the area. We started going to Lynwood due to recommendations from a friend. The staff always see us right away and certainly aren't stingy with the treats. Our dog seems to love it there even tho he gets vaccinated almost every visit. Dr Roscoe communicates very clearly, always takes the time to answer our questions and does a full, thorough examination. We've never had to contend with a full waiting area. Overall, very happy with the friendly people and service at this clinic. RID: 49233
Click to report rating    6/24/13   1     1     1     1   We were not happy with this place at all!!! They seem to vare more about money then the animals! We needed an e collar for our quacker parot and they refused to sell us one without us paying for a visit. We had already went to the vet our vet did no have the proper sized e collar. The staff were rude and incosidetate and talked down to my bf. To bad for them cause I have five animals that I will never be taking there ever! RID: 43278
10/20/12   1     4     1     1   Clean... But everything else was horrible. It's ashame that there are not a lot of options for people with reptiles. Feeling forced into tests, and talked down to for an hour is a bit too much for my money. Horrible. do NOT recommend RID: 37958
Click to report rating    6/12/12   3     3     2     1   Ok when it comes to care. However, very expensive and some of of the vets push a lot of tests. Never on time. I'm now looking for another vet because I think I'm getting fleeced by this place. RID: 34940
Click to report rating    4/1/12   5     5     5     5   I have had several animals (dogs and cats) treated here over many years. In every interaction I have had kind, caring and very professional interactions with the vets and tech staff. They have not only dealt with the inevitable losses that come with owning senior pets, but their support and caring have made it easier to make the decisions that sometimes must be made. I have cried with Tracey and Robin and Lisa, but have also been comforted by them. These folks are caring members of the rescue community as well, and are supporting GRIN Canada (Golden Retrievers in Need) as we go forward with a new rescue that often deals with mill dogs and others who have had a horrible start in life and need help to be rehabilitated so that they may enjoy a "forever" home for the rest of their years.I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who cares about their animals and wants the best possible care for them. RID: 33281
Click to report rating    2/21/12   4     4     4     1   The only problem I have with this vet: when I had an appt in 4 days to see if my rabbit was improving from 3 different prescriptions, they made me pay for 21 days worth of medications!!! Unfortunately, my rabbit needed to be put down 3 days prior to my appt. A little shifty in my opinion. RID: 32376
Click to report rating    11/27/10   5     4     4     4   Excellent avian vets - especially Dr Poulton. Treated my cockatiel for a variety of illnesses including wasting disease and she lived comfortably and happily for years until finally succumbing to the disease at the age of 14. They provide lots of info, options on treatment and explain why they recommend certain tests or procedures including what they feel is absolutely necessary (need to ID specific problem in order to treat) vs 'good to know' (like baseline blood testing for future reference or to eliminate possible misc issues but not actually required to treat). RID: 21118
Click to report rating    9/21/10   5     4     4     5   This animal hospital has a great staff from the vets, techs, assistants and receptionists to the clinic bird! Everyone is kind and caring and they always treat me and my cat as special visitors. I have dealt with all three vets: Dr. Roscoe, Dr. Poulton and Dr. Brown. I know I can trust all three of them. The prices here are higher than some other clinics in Ottawa but I feel comfortable here and I know they have my cat's best interests in mind. The vets and techs are great about answering all of my questions - I am overprotective when it comes to my girl! I have a friend who brings her bird here and she says they are the best in the city. Sometimes they run behind but I know it is because they try to answer all of a person's questions instead of sticking to a tight schedule and booting people out too soon. RID: 19863
