Rude receptionist.
Their website says that they take new patients (top of their website) but the receptionist says that they take only healthy new patients. So in order words, you take no patients right? because why going to a vet if my pet is healthy. Ridiculous response from an rude person who should not work in a vet hospital.

STAY AWAY!! This is a business interested in making money first. I wanted to get flea stuff for my cat which they refused to do unless he had an exam as we hadn't been for over a year. Took him in and our new second cat to have their shots updated. Vet said that the older cat had gingivitis and gave me a horrendous quote with ridiculous charges like boarding and nursing fees. The second cat needed a booster two weeks later and we were charged for a full exam again even though the vet said that we'd just be charged for the booster alone (approx. $35). When I challenged this I was told that the exam fee will stick because there was no note on file from the vet indicating that we would not be charged for the exam fee again. When having the files transferred to my former vet (across town from where we live now but it's worth the drive because they don't rob their clients), the tech said they hear this a lot and implied that w their overhead (large bldg & staff), they pile on the fee

GUINEA PIG OWNERS BEWARE! Please keep your precious little piggies away from this place if you care about them! The doctors don’t care about anything other than making money. After paying $100 for an initial visit, $600 for dental surgery & $100 for meds & follow up, my poor guinea pig was in the exact same state as before I went in! They refused to offer me any further help unless I continued to pay them $100 each visit when the supposed work they did, didn’t even work - the customer is somehow punished for their poor skills!! After the doctor saw the problem during the follow up visit and did absolutely nothing about it, I sought help elsewhere & it took another vet less than 5 minutes to fix the mistake this hospital ignored! Shame on them!!! Such greed & no compassion.

We are very grateful to Dr. Saye Clement and all of the staff at the Carling Animal Hospital for their professional and compassionate care of Blackie for over ten years.
The Carling Animal Hospital was like a second home for Blackie. Besides expert medical care, the CAH is the only place we would consider boarding Blackie on our frequent trips out of town, knowing she was in the best of hands. The Carling Animal Hospital has been an important part of Blackie's life from beginning to end. She recently slipped away peacefully in our arms at the Carling Animal Hospital; we could not have asked for a better way to let our bunny go.

I have been going to Carling for a couple years now & it is an excellent facilty with courteous staff. Only issue I have is they can come off a little pushy with upselling sometimes and it can be very uncomfortable for me as I do not have tons of money for expensive foods or treatments that are not required (i.e. treating for worms before the fecal test results are even in and there have been no signs of worms). Their basic service fees are expensive enough as it is without adding in extraneous things on top of that. Overall like this place but I am looking into possibility of finding a slightly more reasonably priced vet.

Dr Ellison was very helpful, understanding and compassionate. I had to bring my cat for a check up, he'd stopped eating and was having issues walking. Even though he was care for by the staff there for a short period they were still very friendly. When I no choice but to euthanize him due to his condition deteriorating rapidly they were compassionate. Let me spend time with him before and after, as much time as I needed. Thank you to everyone there.

the Ottawa vet Clinic is the best! They are fairly expensive but I recently had to put my cat down and they allowed me to spend time with her before and after. Good customer service and very quick response in an emergency.

Amazing animal hospital. Very personal and caring service - you can tell the staff love working here which makes a complete difference in how they treat our pets. We've been going to them for several years now, with a few heartbreaking moments due to our aging pets. All the best care, and have gone above and beyond to help.

I brought my dog to this clinic for 12 years. I always found them to be VERY courteous, knowledgeable, helpful and willing to listen. I was offered a payment plan when I enquired about the possibility. I dealt with Drs. Clement, Auger, Ellison and Wylie. The reception staff are very accommodating. When the time came to make the difficult decision, I found the entire staff to be most compassionate and supportive. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Carling Animal Hospital!

I've been taking my pets to Carling now for the past few years, and have nothing but the best to say about both the veterinarians and the support staff. Dr. Ellison took great care of my elderly dog last year and was very helpful with advice as well as treatment. If you have an exotic (for myself in particular, rabbits) this hospital has two of the best 'rabbit vets' in the city: Dr. Auger and Dr. Johnson. They take the time to explain things clearly to the owner, they handle all of their patients easily and with care, and both have great depth of knowledge with this unique species...something that many vets just don't have experience with, and can in an emergency mean the difference between life and death. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone who is looking for professional and trustworthy care for their pets.

Very disappointed with the service I received here. Brought in my VERY OLD guinea pig in because she has stopped eating. I was told it was because her teeth had grown too long. Was given a quote of over $700 for the surgery to trim them. As my family was away in the States I had to call them to discuss if this is something we should go ahead with as she was very old, and it was very expensive. I felt VERY rushed to make a decision and told that if I didn't my guinea would "starve to death" (no true, she would have been put down). We ended up doing the surgery. It did not work and my guinea continued not to eat. Went for follow up appointments but they did not fix her. We ended up syringe feeding her. She died a little over a month after the surgery.

I've been on two occasions, both emergencies. They are expensive however they do provide an estimate in advance and are willing to whittle it down if you question essential tests vs "nice to haves". I learned the wrong way was that this is the opportunity to indicate if you need additional help paying because if you ask after the fact, they are displeased. Made me question whether the animal's health is the most important or how quickly they wish to be paid. They worked with me on a payment plan. On another occasion they appeared to have tried everything, they explained what they were trying next and why, but they never figured out what was wrong. They seemed genuinely stumped about what was making my cat so ill so quickly but the bottom line was money...unless I kept paying, they didn't do another test...missing out on a learning experience. Their manner throughout was good, even when I ended up putting the cat down.

I've gone here for years with my various dogs. Always been pleased and like that staff are always smiling and really seem to like what they do. Professional place, but very friendly and you can tell they care about my pet. Mainly deal with Dr. Janet Biggar, but have also seen Dr Clement, Keith Johnson and Dr Helison and all seem very knowledgeable.

Not super happy with my experience here. Took in my sick guinea pig as they said the vet had experience with them, but the vet just kept comparing to rabbits... I'm glad they have some small animal experience but guinea pigs & rabbits aren't exactly alike. Also found it to be too expensive & the vet wouldn't listen to a suggestion I had about treatment after researching online.

Dr. Keith Johnson is very friendly and professional. We just moved here from U.S. and found Dr. Johnson by researching the internet. We were not disappointed. He took the time to explain the cat’s condition and answer additional questions that we had. The facilities are very well equipped, and the staff is fast and efficient. Dr. Johnson took it on himself to personally call with the results of the urinalysis. We are pleasantly impressed by the standard of care Dr. Johnson and the staff is exhibiting. If possible, I would give Dr. Johnson grade 6 on a 5 scale. Amazing job!

All staff, Dr.'s included are very friendly, organized and professional. The facilities are state of the art, and extremely clean and inviting, with lots of parking, and a grassy area for you know what. All Dr's I have engaged with there are really great and give excellent care for checkups, surgeries, or even after care followups. I have never experienced such quality care from a vet clinic before.
