One of our dogs tangled with a rabid fox and was behind on her rabies vaccine. We went to VCA to explore our options. The vet in the office that day examined her and found bite marks. We were advised to have her tested for rabies titer to see if she still had immunity. The blood test was expensive, but we were told, if we could prove she was immune, then we wouldn't have to put her down. However, before the results came back the Health Dept. forced us to destroy her. The vet was brutal & insensitive in how he administered a paralytic drug, followed immediately by the euthanasia drug. She was never given a sedative first. When the test finally came back, the results showed a high level of residual protection from rabies. This vet shouldn't have convinced us to have this test if the state rabies policy was such that we would run out of time waiting for results. We were robbed, given false hope and traumatized by this clinic. I don't think Dr. Turco still owns it. Take your pets elsewhere
