For the past five years, we've had the privilege of having Dr. Paunovic as Bella's veterinarian, starting when our Goldendoodle was just three months old. Dr. Paunovic's commitment to Bella's well-being has been evident since the very beginning.
We appreciate Dr. Paunovic's kindness and patience in addressing our concerns, always going the extra mile to answer our questions. His care has truly exceeded our expectations. It's evident that he not only possesses the necessary professional skills but also a genuine love for animals, which makes a meaningful difference in the care provided.
Dr. Paunovic's exceptional service has positively impacted both Bella's health and our peace of mind. We feel genuinely thankful for his unwavering commitment to the well-being of our furry family member.

I made a appointment for March 4th to have my dog euthanized at my home by Dr. Paunovic owner of Coquitlam Animal Hospital. Five minutes before he was to arrive, an assistant called to say he would be about 40 minutes late. Once arrived, he came up to my dog without greeting her, and promptly poked her back with a needle. I asked what that was for, he ignored me. He then administered the first sedative, which wasn't big enoug to relax her. He began to shave her leg and the clippers pulled her fur causing her to yelp which lead me to believe the clippers were dull. He then said she needed more sedation, and had his assistant call the office to have another assistant bring more sedative while we sat there and waited. After another dose she was still conscious. She yelped again when he tried to insert the needle into her leg. Another sedative was given. During this time, I apologized to her for what was happening. He leaned back on his heels and said "Do you want me to stop?" in

I won't be returning to this clinic because of 2 things - excessive use of sedation and the lack of low stress handling techniques. It was sedation for administering fluids, sedation for procedures that can be done with low stress handling technique, sedation for grooming (I did not use grooming service but it alarmed me). In my view, this is a cash grab. I had to go to 3 clinics recently. All 3 took the cat's temperature. Out of the 3 clinics, my cat was most stressed at this one. Cat hissed which is rare. I am dubious that the staff know proper towel restraint techniques due to what appeared to be high sedation use. During my 2nd visit, I was waiting to pick my cat up in the waiting room and heard a cat screaming. I thought it couldn't be mine. But it was.
Note that front desk staff are the poster child for customer service. Especially the zippy Chinese dude.

I have only good things to say about this place and people. They are knowledgeable,supportive, caring and inform you up front about charges. They do not perform anything unnecessary and seem to work through things in a logical fashion, experience and gut feeling. Kudos to them all working in what can be an emotionally charged environment.

I was very disappointed with the vet - I brought a dog in for a specific issue and he didn't even touch her, didn't take her temperature, nothing... just gave a guess at what it was and signed a prescription. I paid for a full examination, but got no exam at all (he didn't even take her temperature). He actually leaned up against the counter the entire time. He made us feel like he didn't feel like being at work that day and we left feeling disappointed and not confident in the diagnosis. I'm not sure if this is an isolated event, as I'd never been there before.

This is by far the worst clinic i've ever been. the asian girl is RUDE, she slammed a pen on the counter when i asked to borrow one. It made such a big bang i think it shocked her a bit too but she didn't apologize. the dr insisted that my dog had a neurological problem when she clearly sprained her leg joints by jumping off a chair. he suggested me see a specialist and have an MRI done. I asked him to take some xrays b/c i did not believe my dog had a neuro problem but simply sprained her foot/had a broken bone. He finally agreed to take xrays and when the results came out i was so disappointed. The xrays were taken of both of her legs, not just the one that was hurt, to show that they looked exactly the same and therefore to his judgement, it wasnt broken. He again recommended us to see al specialist. I paid $400 for this useless xray result and wasted my time. i then went to a diff clinic and had my dog's sprained ankle treated immediately. This place is such a joke!!

Dr. Panovich is not only a very knowledgable and experienced vet but also a kind ,passionate individual. He is one of the most caring vets I have ever met. His priorities are to provide the excellent medical care for his patients and great customer services for the clients. He never refrains from helping other by spending as much time as possible. The staff are very professional and helpful. I would refer this hospital to anyone who wants to have the best service for their loving pet.

If there was an 'OUTSTANDING' rating, I would select that. When I woke up today, one of my cats was very out of sorts. Hunched, panting a bit with clear abdominal pain. I was worried that she might have swallowed something she shouldn't. I called TEN other vet hospitals and was told I'd either have to wait until tomorrow or that their vets had gone home for the day. Dr.Paunovic had left for the day, but his receptionist called him straight away then called me back. Even though we weren't regular patients, he came back just to see our cat. He was thorough and took excellent care of our girl who wouldn't have been seen otherwise and is now doing much better. As we were getting ready to leave, I noticed he'd interrupted plans with his family just to take care of us. This doctor is one in a million and we now have a new vet. He was also very reasonable for cost.

This is a very caring clinic and Dr. Paunovic is very knowledgeable and well trained. His compassion for the animals he treats shines through him. He is also mindful of costs. He saved my 8.5 year old dog's life less than a year ago. She was too young to leave me yet! The staff are always friendly and helpful as well. I highly recommend this clinic.

We were worried about Dr. Lam retiring, thinking we would have to change to another vet. We were quite happy to find that Dr. Paunovic was excellent. We never feel rushed when visiting. He answers all questions thoroughly. He understands that we prefer natural therapies and he's fine with that - never prescribing something that's not needed. My wife and I feel that he keeps up with the latest information which is great also. I must disagree with another review here because we honestly feel that we've never been overcharged at all. One other story worth noting - a friend of ours had a sick dog which got an incorrect diagnosis from her former vet. The dog was getting worse so my wife suggested she bring her dog in to see Dr. Paunovic. He saw the dog right away and found the true cause of the problem and prescribed treatment. The dog fully recovered very quickly and is energetic and happy once again. As a result of this, our friend switched to Dr. Paunovic for vet care.

Not only did I feel as though I was over-charged for a surgery on my pet, but Dr. Paunovic was at least 20 minutes late for each follow-up appointment after (there were about 3), when I was the first appointment in the morning! Perhaps I was spoiled with Dr. Lam's loving and caring attitude all of these years, but isn't that how a veterinarian is supposed to be? Caring of animals? I didn't get that vibe from this guy at all. Ended up switching clinics.

Dr Lam was a wonderful vet, but unfortunately he sold the practice to Dr. Paunovic, who appears to only be interested in getting you to buy expensive treatments the animal does not need.

I highly recommend this clinic for any who have pets. The staff was kind and caring even when it came to me being in tears. Dr. Paunovic did an excellant job caring for my cat and brought her back to her old self,when i feared i was going to lose her, i am forever in his debt. I will recommend this place to all my family and friends, ty

The staff are excellent the doctor is great,have recommended them to many family and friends.After they have been there for a visit they call me and thank me for the recommendation.Can't do better than that.

I used to use a different vetrinary office but they changed owners and were focused more on the money than the animals. A friend recommened Dr. Lam and I am gratefull. He saw my elderly dog right away when she was having serious ear issues. They were fantastic with her and made me feel comfortable. We have a new kitten who we take there and wouldn't go anywhere else!! Great Work!

Dr. Lam appeared to be helpful and caring but that was before he ripped us off $500. We had a adopted this little dog that was needing serious dental surgery. I told him the rescue estimated the cost would be $1000 and that they would cover the cost of surgery if we used their vet - their vet would only charge the rescue 50%. I am told this is a very normal arrangement that many vets have with rescues. Dr. Lam told me not to worry about going to this other vet and that he would match this price. He then turned around and charged me $500 and also charged the rescue $500 !! He said that the surgery was more extensive than he expected although I initially told him the rescue had already quoted us $1000 .. IMHO the guy is losing his mind so would suggest that anyone else dealing with this vet would get all quotes in writing .. I left him numerous messages through his staff but he never bothered to call .. We will never bring our pet to this hospital.

My husband and I are new residents and used this website to find a vet for our 2 year old mini schnauzer. He is not special needs but he does have a pronounced heart murmur. Dr. Lam is a great vet. He and his staff are very knowledgeable and made us feel very good about having chosen his practice. All the other comments posted here apply to our experience. The price was quite reasonable. We were not pressured at all to neuter our dog, the concern centering around his heart murmur. In fact, Dr. Lam made us feel better about choosing not to put our dog through such a risky experience (for his condition). Highly recommended.

Dr Lam and his staff are amazing and are willing to go the extra mile for you and your animal(s) My dog had never been to see Dr Lam, but my dog developed a rash and my old vet was too busy to see him until a few days later ( he was chewing his leg so bad it was bleeding) I called Dr Lam and was told to bring my dog right over to be looked at, all this for a first time patient. They even followed up a few days later to see how he was doing and if the rash had gotten better. I will never go anywhere else again. Highly recommended

Dr.Lam and is his staff are wonderful and have taken great care of our animals including our special needs kitten who needed to have his leg re-wrapped 4 times in 1 day and only charged us for 1. I wouldn't take my animals anywhere else.

Great service, wonderful staff, what more could you want. They seek alternatives to surgery and/or meds with nasty side effects. Willing to go the extra mile for your pets.
