Not give a complete exam even though paid for it. A price for a "consultation" that gave nothing. I asked for all of my medical records - they sent it to me - but only included the dates of visits and cost. No treatment or results or reasons of visits were included. This place used to have a good rep - it now belongs to American company : all about money.

This clinic is terrible. We've given it many chances with different vets but everytime we are met with the vets upselling us and putting our dog through unnecessary tests. The vets aren't even nice about it and have refused to treat out dog without completing their "necessary" tests, even for simple things like an eye infection. Such a disappointment, we will not be returning. Dr. Steve Batty was an amazing vet there but turns out he was only filling in temporarily there and has since left.

Great staff and great facility who care about their customers and profession. We know Dr. Young who works here. She is a kind, caring, knowledgeable veterinarian and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her or the practice to others.

While the staff are very nice/friendly here, I haven't been very pleased with the service. Not a lot of follow up after appts - I always have to chase after my vet for answers to my questions or I will be told I will hear back from them and then never do. Also, this place is pricy compared to other vet offices. I have been quoted $200-300 more than several other places in Ottawa to get my puppy neutered here.

We've been taking dogs and cats to Pretoria for 17 years and have always had quality and compassionate care. There has always been a thorough explanation of care options available, and yes, sometimes they are expensive. Recently however, we encountered some inflexibility in care decisions around a simple cat neuter. The vet in question took a particularly cautious approach even after a pathologist reviewed the results and found no cause for that level of concern. While I trust that the vet's primary concern was for our cat, recommending bone marrow aspirate and lymph node biopsy when the feline leukaemia and blood pathology came back negative for cancer stuck me as odd. Our request to go ahead with the neuter was met with firm resistance. We were concerned that delaying another month for more blood work would only cement the marking behaviour we were trying to address with the neuter. We have thus decided to seek a second opinion.

Called to ask for an appointment for my puppy who was sick. Receptionist said they could fit me in at the end of the day. I show up. A technician takes my dog to the back (I am not allowed to come with her). A few minutes later she brings the dog back and tells me she needs medication. Total cost: $200+ no consult nothing. The medication doesn't work. I call back, they say you can bring her back for another consult but that'll be another $200. Where is the vet?

This is the only clinic we have ever known and our feelings are mixed, at best. Other reviews on here citing constant up-selling are correct as they are always trying to sell you something you don't need and making you feel shamed for not jumping on it as if you don't have the best interest of your animal at heart. Overpriced, but friendly service from the support staff. I will be taking my business elsewhere as value for money is simply not there. We had inquired about dental cleaning and they went over it, only to receive an unsolicited estimate in the mail for just over $800 for routine cleaning procedures and unnecessary surgeries and extractions. That was the last straw.

It's true that they are extremely expensive. But I love our vet (Dr. Young) and trust her completely. I do not believe she would mislead us about the need for treatment in order to make money--she is am amazing vet and a fantastic person--I trust her integrity unconditionally. In my opinion, this is a good example of getting what you pay for: great service, great care, both of which are more expensive than other places. For us it's worth it.

I have moved a few times in Ontario & have been with a few vets now as a result. This is NOT a good clinic. For the positive reviews on here, I don't think they know their other options. Firstly, you are paying WAY too much here. I have seen two of their vets now & both times I felt like they were using scare tactics to up-sell. This is the FIRST time in 10 years that I have experienced this with a vet. I also brought them a new puppy with an issue the vet admitted she hadn't encountered before. After about 15 minutes of research, she recommended a $2000+ (seriously) procedure to diagnose the issue. I was told I shouldn't wait and she made me feel like a bad owner b/c I thought it was pricey and wanted another opinion. I called my old vet and they got back to me the next day-the issue was diagnosed the next week via ultrasound for $500. I will agree that their technicians are wonderful-but at the end of the day you are paying for the vet & relying on their opinions and prescriptions.

They have cared for two of my dogs and we have seen most of the vets at this clinic. Dr. Young, Dr. Craig, and visiting Dr. McIsaac have been fantastic with the needs for my pets. They have even only charged a recheck for a new problem, as I am a frequent visitor as my dog has had numerous issues. When our old dog passed, Dr. Young took the time to hand write us a personal condolence card about our dog and his personality. Would definitely recommend! I do find normal rates are a bit higher than other clinics, but it is in the downtown area so their costs may be higher as well.

We went to the clinic on a recommendation from a friend and was thrilled with the attentiveness of the staff and the way they explain what they were doing when handling our dog. Dr.Mossop was fantastic.

We have taken our dog here several times and have been seen by several of the vets. Excellent, friendly, professional, personal service. The vets and the entire staff are clearly animal lovers. It shows in the way they greet (and treat) the animals in their care. I have never felt that they "up sold" me on more expensive services. They seem to have my dog's best interest in mind. I highly recommend this clinic.

This is an awful clinic. We left. The vets are following a script to inflate your bill. We hated how they sneak extra charges. This added to the insanely expensive rates, easily double of what some other clinics will charge for the same service. We had Mossop and Young, both terrible vets.

Dr. Young is fantastic. You can tell she loves animals and is genuinely concerned for the well being of your pet. True their prices are high but the care your pet gets is priceless. I'vve only hadd one issue with them and it was resolved to my liking so I am sastisfied.

I have used this animal hospital for 16 years, with two cats and one dog. I have always found them knowledgable and compassionate. We see Dr. young who is a wonderful person and cares a geat deal for the pets and their owners. My only complaint would be they are a little higher priced than some other offices. Overall very happy with the care my nineteen month old Lab and three year old hymilian receive here!

The only reason I use this vet is because it is very close to my house. I am looking to go elsewhere though. Their prices are high. Furthermore, I've never been to a vet that didn't stock routine meds. My puppy had a case of kennel cough and I had to go to a regular people pharmacy to get the compound which the vet doesn't carry in stock. So I paid $120 for a visit and a 2ndary med then over $40 more for the primary antibiotic... Staff is friendly if too chatty -- I've waited over 10 mins to check in while the receptionist made casual pet-related discussions with another client.

This place is all about up-selling. They tell you scary stories and guilt you into spending way more money than you need to. It's difficult to develop a relationship with one specific vet or vet tech as they alternate and the schedules seem inconsistent. It's clear that everyone here really loves animals, but the clinic is business, run like a business, and all the staff are great sales people. They over charge for surgeries and other procedures by a long shot and sometimes they take your pet to the back and do procedures or tests you didn't ask for and then charge you. They are never upfront with how much things cost, instead, they offer to do simple extras for you pets and give the impression it's free, then you get a huge bill. It's frustrating and disappointing.

I was really unhappy with the doctors at the hospital. The vet techs were great but the doctor left me a note telling me my cat would most likely die when I took her home and was unavailable for further questions. Leaving me to go home and hope my cat lived till the next day.

Vet was particularly patronizing to me upon first visit with a new kitten.I asked a few questions.. I made note of it and will not recommend going if you haveany serious medical concerns about your pet and are looking for compassionate care and staff that actually listen to their clients.

Not impressed with the follow up service provided at this clinic. Hard to get some "face time" or telephone contact with a vet - they get their techs to call back. When an owner is concerned about the health of their pet - they want to talk to the doctor.
