Excellent. They treated my dog better than I was ever treated during in-patient hospital stays. They called me 3 times a day to give me updates. My dog Milo had surgery, a blood transfusion and 4 days in the ER. Each in patient has it's own nurse day and night. And if you choose to call a 1 in the morning it's fine. They were more than happy to update at any time in the morning. I would highly recommend! My dog is doing very very well.

Dr. Feinmehl, cancer specialist and part owner of the business, managed to make our last days with our wonderful cat utterly horrific. She hung up the phone on us after we questioned her treatment plan. She flat out refused to meet with us at every chemo session. We tried to call her back (we were admittedly upset) but she refused to speak with us. She then instructed her client representative, Heather, to fire us as clients.
I reached out over the following weeks to attempt some sort of resolution, though she refused to return any calls. She merely offered to treat our cat for one more week (making it clear that she would not treat him further), and provided a list of alternative vets. My fear was that I would be unable to find a doctor to treat my cat given the time frame she set out. I am happy to report this was not the case.

My husband I and I were so desperate and VSC is supposed to "be the best and a trauma 1 facility" and there are not too many options out there. None of the specialists are there on weekends. If it is an emergency just know that they will just hospitalize your pet all weekend until the specialists get in Monday morning to examine your pet. They will give you an estimate and each night is about 2k. I feel they do not have specialists on weekends so they can collect $$ for weekend hospitalizations.
They are not a multi-disciplinary team. There is no communication between the doctors. I saw and experienced no collaboration with the doctors and the specialists. VSC never worked with our primary/family veterinarian. I had to fill my primary vet myself. No phone call was EVER made by VSC.

I brought my Golden in through the E.R. giving them a 5 minute lead way. They were ready with a stretcher to take her in. The receptionist staff seemed well experience with E.R. pet parents of this nature and were able to lead me gently into a private room right away. My doctor and ALL of the staff showed extreme compassion with my pup and were extremely patient with my husband and me (over the phone) while we discussed in great extent the options. They had a grief councilor take over at exactly the right time and even had a peaceful room to spend our last moments together. In addition, they extended their services for counseling and sent a very personal card home. Never expected this level of service and found it amazing. Thank you VSC.

The so-called "specialist" in this hospital are nothing of the sort...aside from especially incompetant. Their leader is Dr. Feinmehl, who is arrogant, at best. She would not return my phone calls with regard to my beloved, but cancer-ridden cat. Her medical opinion was irresponsible and dangerous. My cat survived, but only after taking her to the specialty hospital in Northbrook. Feinmehls bedside manner was no better. She condescends and became instantly hostile when I had the gall to tell her I was seeking a second opinion. Totally unprofessional. AVOID Veterinary Specialy Center!

Referred to VSC after 2 animal hospitals and 4 veterinarians could not help my cat. Dr Noonan was able to determine the bacteria and treat my cat, unfortunately too much damage had occured and his leg had to be amputated. Dr. Noonan kept me aware of charges, procedures and work endlessly with me as I tried to save the leg. I can't say enough about how special this place is, yep it might be expensive. . . but WHAT is your pet WORTH ? These veterinarians are highly educated professionals.I am happy everyday I see my little guy and was able to avoid a bleak alternative.

On Weds. Feb. 1, 2012 we took our Morky to Veterinary Specialty Clinic in Buffalo Grove, IL because our small dog was panting inexplicably. Dr. Anna Czekala handled our case, and she did a very poor job because after leading us into the examination room and taking our dog to the back area, we were left sitting for 2 hours without knowing what was going on or whether anything was wrong with our beloved dog. Dr. Czekala declared that she could not find anything wrong with our dog even though she had viewed her urine under a microscope. She also attempted to take a chest xray, but admitted she was unable to do so. She also acknowledged that our dog lost her bladder in the back area while we were waiting. We were billed over $400.00. Two days later it was obvious that our dog had a very bad bladder infection. I also was harrassed by the doctor and staff for asking questions, including in regards to their competency. DO NOT take your animal to this clinic.

The staff here is horrible. These are not all 'technicians' in fact, I asked one who was in the surgery department what their training was and they said - on the job, graduated high school. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I asked for clarification since they said they did anesthesia and they said yes! WOW. Who knew that my expensive surgery was being put under by a h.s. grad. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Two anesthesiologists work here but if they're not the ones actually doing all the anesthesia (and it's a big place!) then who the heck is? Ask questions, be educated, request creds. Its a scary world. Beautiful facility but the staff... BEWARE.

The people who leave bad reviews for this place were on the rag that day. Veterinary Specialty Center is awesome. Yes, prices are high--but how much did you spend on YOUR MRI? A $50 co-pay? Guess what, it doesn't work that way with veterinary medicine. They saved my cat! And they did it with total professionalism and compassion. My regular vet couldn't handle it--so he referred me here. Thank you VSC!!

As with two of the other specialty clinics I have used in the Chicago area, very costly, meat market "get 'em in, get 'em out" mentality with limited compassion. Overall outcome of knee surgery average.

Don't care about the animal; don't care if it lives or dies. Only cares about getting your money so they can market their facility as something it is not. Don't trust them with your beloved pet.

Terrible treatment of our dog. Left facility in worse shape than when taken in. I would not recommend it to anyone.
